Mechanical Engineering

Springer Nature's Mechanical Engineering books track and review the latest advances and innovative practices in the field. They have key strengths in production engineering and manufacturing, machinery, engineering materials, thermodynamics, vehicle technology, and engineering design.

Today’s cutting-edge mechanical engineering merges traditional areas such as machining with additive manufacturing, including metals and bioprinting. Nanotechnology and bioengineering have greatly expanded the scope of the application of engineering methods in recent years. The increasing importance of sustainability to economic development worldwide has prompted innovations in mechanical engineering. In addition, more effort is being focused on inclusive technology, emphasizing the creation of solutions that accommodate diverse needs and promote equal access to digital and physical resources.

About the editor

Anthony Doyle is the executive editor for engineering in Springer Nature's London office. He has a degree in physics from the University of Sheffield and since leaving higher education has worked in a variety of roles in publishing, including B2B publishing, academic journal production and in industry trade magazines. Since 2003 he has worked as a book publisher contributing to Springer Nature's engineering book list, the largest in the world. He acquires and publishes monographs in design and manufacturing engineering, energy engineering and the interdisciplinary research that crosses traditional subject boundaries, in particular because of how considerations of sustainability impact on all branches of the applied sciences. In addition to publishing many book titles in energy in series such as Green Energy and Technology and Lecture Notes in Energy, he is the coordinator of Springer Nature's interdisciplinary book program in energy.
