If you are a corresponding author affiliated with a participating institution within OhioLINK, the agreement reached means you can publish your article open access (OA) with fees covered.
More than 70 institutions are participating in the transformative agreement between Springer Nature and OhioLINK, meaning that corresponding authors* affiliated with participating institutions are eligible to publish their articles OA with fees covered in hybrid journals across the Springer Nature portfolio.
In addition, you can enjoy full access to all Springer subscription journal content. Established by OhioLINK, this agreement will run through 31 December 2026.

The OA publication service has reached its maximum article allowance in 2024 for the following institutions.
- Case Western Reserve University
- University of Cincinnati
- Cleveland Clinic
This means that OA publishing fees for affiliated authors at these institutions can no longer be waived for the remainder of 2024. Corresponding authors may choose to publish as subscription access without paying any OA publishing fees, or they may opt to use alternative funding sources to publish OA. Starting January 1, 2025, coverage for OA publishing fees will again be available with a new annual allowance for OA articles.
If you need advice on what OA funding is available to you, please visit our funding & support service page. For more information, please contact: oa.verification@springernature.com. Alternatively, contact your institution’s library or find information about the agreement on OhioLINK’s website.
