Qatar National Library open access books partnership agreement

Information for institutions and authors

If you’re affiliated with a Qatar-based institute of higher education or non-profit research institute, you may be eligible to receive full open access (OA) funding when you publish your book, through support of the library.

Thanks to this OA book agreement, authors and editors affiliated with one of the 63 participating consortium institutions may benefit from full OA funding of the book processing charges (BPC) when publishing their book OA with Springer Nature under an open licence CC BY 4.0. Funding is subject to approval from Qatar National Library and editorial acceptance from Springer Nature.

The agreement covers all Springer Nature book imprints, ensuring your work is freely accessible and discoverable to all communities across science, technology, medicine, the humanities and social sciences. Your work will also be available to readers around the world via Springer Nature's content platform SpringerLink.

Qatar Foundation and Springer Nature have been partners since 2012 to support the research community in Qatar. Since the inauguration of Qatar National Library in 2018, the partnership continued to grow further leading to the landmark signing of the Middle East's first Transformative Agreement in 2019. We are thrilled to announce the signing of this OA book agreement that underscores our shared commitment to driving forward a sustainable open research environment. We see this partnership as a key step in broadening the reach and ensuring sustainability of OA publishing for books within the region, and across Springer Nature's diverse portfolio of resources and solutions.
